Chula’s Commerce and Accountancy combines forces with allies to build a model for safe education management during the new normal Date: 11 Aug 2020

The Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy of Chulalongkorn University has signed an MoU with CT Asia Robotics Co., Ltd to receive support in the form of coronavirus-disinfecting ‘Ban Shi’ robots and temperature sensors.

Amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy regards safety and quality of education as its top priorities. The Chulalongkorn Business School (CBS) Safe Haven for Lifeline Learning model has the goals of ensuring a safe learning environment free from COVID-19 meeting the relevant public health standards and restoring confidence to all those returning to school.

The ‘Ban Shi’ robots are dispatched to sanitize the faculty’s premises on a regular basis, while the temperature sensors are in place at its various screening points. Also, face shields and surgical masks were provided to the faculty, staff, and students. Furthermore, certain classrooms and sections of the libraries were retrofitted into co-working spaces where online study can take place.

Earlier, a partnership was established with Dhipaya Insurance Public Company Limited to provide extra COVID-19 treatment coverage to the faculty members, staff, and students with ongoing protection up until now.

An alliance was also formed with Com7 Public Company Limited, who has donated 20 computers to the faculty and offered the students computer loan services and purchase installment options or privileges.

The Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy is also running corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects through its affiliates, such as the renowned Chulalongkorn Business Administration (CBA), to encourage the students to give back to society.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy of Chulalongkorn University, also stated that, “We’re going to sign an MoU with the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSP) under which our students will be involved in formulating business plans for SMEs to help them survive the COVID-19 pandemic in this digital era. We’re also collaborating with Siam Piwat, allowing our students to devise sales and marketing plans for small retailers in the Sook Siam zone of Icon Siam.”

Not only is the CBS Safe Haven for Lifeline Learning model on par with international educational management standards, but it also underscores the CBS’s position as a top business school that we can take pride in.
